Amateur Licence Test Sessions
Amateur Radio LIcense Test sessions are open to all. The 2024 Test Sessions are being held at “Siler Presbyterian Church” 6301 Weddington-Monroe Rd., Wesley Chapel, NC. Test sessions are held in Building 2, Room 22 and begin at 9:00 am, please arrive by 8:45 am. All test elements are given at each session. Register by sending an email to VE Team or if you need additional information. Registration is Required.
Any special testing needs, ie verbal exams, translators, etc. must be pre-requested at least two full weeks before the testing date. (NOTE: While we will try to accommodate the needs of any applicant, the Union County VE Team, as an all-volunteer staff, cannot guarantee that special need requests can be honored at all testing sessions.)
Effective April 19, 2022 there will be a $35 charge by the FCC for a New License, A renewal and a Vanity Call. This is in addition to the fee by the VE examiners

Pre-registering (required)
You have put in much effort to study and prepare to take an Amateur Radio license exam, the Union County Amateur Radio Society (UCARS) wants to ensure that the process goes smoothly, and that you can receive any license you have earned without delay or denial. UCARS VE Team requires that all applicates pre-register for any exam given by UCARS. It is best to register as far in advance as possible and as soon as you have identified a date when you wish to test. If, after registering, you find that you cannot attend the exam session which you have registered please notify us. There is no fee or penalty for a cancellation.
Pre-register for a UCARS test session by sending email to the VETeam
with the following information*:
- Your name, your phone number and your e-mail address.
- Date of exam session you are requesting.
- Your FCC Registration Number (FRN) number (if you have one).
- Your current Amateur Radio callsign (if you have one).
- Have you ever had an amateur radio license? (Yes / No / When / Callsign if known).
- A list of Exam Elements passed and recorded on any Certificates of Successful Completion of Examination (CSCE) you have, and for which a license has NOT yet been granted.
- If you are claiming exam element credit for an expired license as permitted by FCC rule Part 97.505 .
- Any special assistance that you may need.
After your registration request has been received the VE Team will reply via e-mail with further information and instructions.
